Creepy Cave

Image
The next morning greets our friends with clear weather and sunshine. The morning mists still hang thickly over the swamp, but the rising sun promises a beautiful day without any more rain. "Let's go back along the path and then along the foot of the cliff to the southeast. Just like yesterday. The ground is a bit drier there and we should make good progress," suggests Nikta. "Then we can't miss the cave. We should also look for traces of the skeletons. I don't think they've been walking through the water the whole time." "Why not? After all, they don't have to breathe like we do, so it shouldn't even bother them if they walk under the water's surface," notes Lian. "Yes, the skeletons don't. But the necromancer who created them has to breathe. And I don't think he swam or sailed alongside in a boat. Of course, it's possible that he simply sent them out to get the treasure back from the goblins. But he must have a...

Shabby Shack

First, the adventurers notice that Iztok, the goblin they captured, has seized the opportunity and fled in the heat of the moment. A pursuit through the swamp seems unlikely and not worth the effort. Instead, the search for the necromancer seems more important. After all, someone must have created and commanded the horde of skeletons that attacked the village. Upon studying the supposed map on the back of the fan again, Fushigi notes that neither of the two huts can mark their current position, as both are close to the western bank and Sirca could not see any open water to the west from the observation tower. So they must be roughly in the middle of the map. To confirm this, Hanrin suggests following the path east to the cliff and then walking along the foot of it to the southwest. They should then come across another path that leads to one of the huts marked on it. Before the group sets off, the village and the surrounding area are searched intensively for traces of the skeletons. And...

The Toadlicker Village

The next morning, the group sets off for the goblin village. As they leave, the hobbit thanks them profusely for rescuing them and gives Sirca a special protective cloak that he says will protect them from many dangers. They return to the coastal road as Walthus advised and follow it southwards. The weather is dry, a light wind is blowing and driving a loose blanket of clouds. After about two miles, Nikta discovers another path that branches off from the road to the west and leads back into the swamp. After a while, this path also leads to the cliff edge and then down into the swamp. Nikta notices that this path is much less used than the fish path further north. There are also no traces of goblins. The path winds through the swamp again. A wide, slowly flowing stream can be crossed over a plank bridge and the friends continue on their way. After a while they come to a junction. The path forks and on one side leads west, deeper into the swamp, and on the other side southeast back towar...

Visiting Walthus Proudstump

The next morning, Sirca is the first to be up. The sun is not yet at its zenith and she wants to use the day to return to the Brinestump Swamp and find the goblin village. Nikta, who had found shelter for the night in the haystack of the stable, is also awake. He is just doing his morning combat training to stay fit, as he says. Over a quick breakfast, the two Davirens tell Hosk about their nightly experiences, Elisabeth's rescue and the death of the Soggy Monster. Daviren is visibly worried and once again strongly recommends visiting the hobbit Walthus Proudstump and asking for advice. The other three friends of the group are also quickly located and so they all set off together for the swamp shortly before midday, which can be reached after a short journey along the coastal road. Only in daylight does the full size of the swamp become apparent. It stretches a good two miles from north to south and perhaps a mile from east to west, as far as the Varisian coast. On the eastern edge...
